Engineered Wood Flooring: The Perfect Flooring Option
If you are remodeling your home you might be considering a hardwood floor, or laminate flooring for a room in your home. You should check out engineered wood flooring. While laminate flooring is affordable and looks a lot like hardwood flooring, it just is not the same. It will show wear and tear over time and needs special cleaners so there is no abrasive from the cleaning. Hardwood floors are durable and look great, but they can be quite expensive. You can save a lot of money with another choice. The hardwood floor and hired professional hardwood floor installers will bring you a very high bill when the work is all done.
Engineered wood flooring may be a better choice for you and your budget. Engineered wood is solid wood just like hardwood flooring is. Laminate flooring is worse – it has wood composite on the bottom with a special paper on top. That doesn’t sound very durable does it? Engineered wood flooring is real, solid wood just like hardwood flooring, and it is pre finished for you. When they pre finish the engineered wood you will see that the top layer has already been sanded and sealed for you. With hardwood flooring you would have to do this after you lay the floor down. However, you can walk on your engineered wood flooring as soon as it is in place!
On a regular basis (but only up to three times for its lifetime), probably about two or three times a year (or less) it can be lightly sanded to remove any nicks and damages and sealed. While solid hardwood flooring can be found pre finished, engineered wood flooring always comes pre finished.
You can even put down engineered wood flooring in your basement or a bathroom, as they will do all right with a little bit of moisture. If your basement floods you should not put engineered wood flooring (or any other kind of wood flooring, for that matter) in your basement. It can handle some moisture, but not the impact of floods.
Solid hardwood flooring needs to be nailed down to its sub wood floor, but engineered wood flooring gives you some options. You can have a nailed down floor just as you would with solid hardwood flooring, but you can also choose from a floating floor to a glued down floor. This gives you more options when choosing how you want the floor to look along with the rooms’ own décor.
Save money and time while adding style and durability to your home with engineered wood flooring.
